Nigel Brooksby

Nigel Brooksby is highly regarded as an experienced Businessman and Entrepreneur in the Life Sciences arena. Over the last six years, Nigel has been involved as Chairman/ Director/Strategic Adviser in raising significant investments. In his role as Chairman of the UK Life Sciences Skills Strategy Board, he secured a successful £32million bid from the UK government for the continued expansion and development of skills for the life sciences sector. In October 2015, he was instrumental in gaining a listing for a clinical stage Biopharma company on NASDAQ , and continues to be a key investor and director. He has been a long-standing investor in a novel biotechnology company that is seeking an AIMS listing in early 2017. Under the auspices of his company Steel-Bars Ltd, through his extensive network of global pharma companies at CEO level, Nigel has undertaken many projects in partnering biotech companies with big pharma. He is also a Non-executive Director of Porton Biopharma and a Director of Stabilitech Biopharma.

During his 38-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, Nigel achieved a meteoric rise from medical sales representative to industry leader. He has made a significant contribution to the companies he has worked for, the industry he works in, and the charities he has supported. Previously he held senior Global Appointments in Wellcome (now GSK), in Pfizer and until his recent retirement was a Member of the Sanofi Executive Committee in Europe and North American and Chairman and Managing Director of the Sanofi Group in the UK and Ireland. He has worked internationally based in Europe, the USA, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Nigel is a past President of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Association (ABPI), and received the Honour of Lifetime Member in recognition of his services to the Life Sciences and his term of office as President. He is Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Directors Club, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and The Royal Society of Arts and a Friend of the Royal College of Physicians.

Nigel holds several Academic, Charity and Life Sciences Chairmanships and Senior Board positions, which include the Clinical Trials Unit at Imperial College London, advising the Wellcome Trust and the South Australian Health Board, a Visiting Lecturer of the Singapore Management University and a Trustee of the Loulou Foundation.
